How to calculate your commission as a high-ticket closer
Updated October 4, 2026
Most high-ticket closers earn a percentage of what they sell. It sounds simple until payment plans, offers with different rates and clients in different currencies show up. This guide lays out the math.
The basic formula
Commission = amount collected × the offer's commission rate.
Example: you close a $2,000 program at a 10% commission. If it's paid in full, your commission is $200.
Payment plans
The usual approach is to pay commission on cash collected, not on contract value. If the same program is paid in two installments of $1,000, you earn $100 on the first payment and $100 on the second.
Get this in writing with whoever hires you: some businesses pay the full commission at close and others as the money comes in.
Several offers, several rates
If you sell a core program at 10% and an upsell at 15%, each close is calculated with the rate of the offer you sold. That's why you should log which offer you closed on every call, not just the amount.
If you close for several clients
Many closers work for two or three businesses at once, each with its own offers and rates. Keeping the numbers separate by client avoids mixing up commissions and shows you which one pays you best per hour on calls.
Common mistakes
- Calculating on contract value when the sale is paid in installments.
- Using the same rate for every offer.
- Logging the close days later and forgetting a change in the final price.
- Mixing closes from different clients in the same spreadsheet.
Let your commission calculate itself
In Closrr you set up your offers once, with their ticket and commission rate. When you mark a call as closed you pick the offer and Closrr adds up cash collected and your commission. If the real amount was different, you adjust it right there. And if you work for several businesses, each one is a separate account with its own offers.
Your calls, closes and commission, calculated for you.
